Q) What’s special about the oxalis family?
A) Oxalis has green/purple leaves held up by thin and leggy stems, making them sway gently in the wind. The leaves open when there’s light and close when it’s dark. It flowers easily, with old leaves dying but quickly replaced by baby ones. It’s an adorable plant which will bring you joy watching it change and grow, like a pot of butterflies in a floral garden.
Q) How often do I have to water it?
A) You have to keep the soil lightly moist but not soggy or flooded. Look at the colour of the soil, If it’s light brown and feels dry to the touch, you may proceed to water.
Q) Where should I put it?
A) The best location would be next to the window for bright indirect sun. You can also place it under direct morning/evening sun.
Q) The purple parts of the leaves of this plant will remain purple?
A) Yes they will remain purple and the purple will be more vibrant under bright light
Q) Does it flower?
A) Yes they flower easily when the location is bright
Problem: Fungi infection
Solution: You have to spray fungicide once every 2 weeks to cure the current fungi infection and prevent the future growth of fungi.
If the fungi infection is too serious, cut away the affected leaves. If placed at a bright location, oxalis will sprout baby leaves pretty readily.
A soil mix that retains water well as oxalis needs to drink frequently.
