What is nutricote?
Nutricote is a made-in-japan slow release fertiliser. When administered on the soil and watered through, the nutrients dissolves into the soil and gets absorbed by the plants via the roots.
What does nutricote contain?
It contains Nitrogen (N), Phosphorous (P) and Potassium (K), the 3 keys building blocks for all plants.
Basically, plants require NPK to grow
– Nitrogen (N) for leaves to grow well
– Phosphorous (P) roots and flowers to grow well
– Potassium (K) for building the plant’s immunity against diseases
The numbers on the container refers to the percentage of N-P-K in the fertiliser. Read more about NPK here!
Besides N-P-K, it also contains other elements which the plant needs in smaller quantity, so you don’t have to dose
[FAQs]
How often should I put nutricote onto the soil?
Once every 4 months
Why does the tub state “180 days (6 months)” but I have to apply once every “4 months”?
“180 days” is the recommended release duration after lab testing. However, for SG climate and weather, 4 months is recommended.
How much nutricote should I put onto the soil?
The below is only a guideline. Do adjust dosage according to how your plant reacts to the nutricote.
Which part of the soil should I place the nutricote?
You can sprinkle on the top part of the soil. Avoid having it too close to the stem. Remember to water after applying the nutricote.
Can I use nutricote for succulents and cacti?
Yes you can, you can put about 1/4 teaspoon onto the small 5.5cm pot which succulents and cacti usually come in. However, succulents and cacti normally don’t require a lot of nutrients. So you might see the effect of nutricote better on other plants.
Is there an expiry date?
– Nutricote is an inert chemical fertiliser which gets activated when exposed to moisture
– The packaging is air tight, so as long as you keep it dry, it doesn’t ‘expire’
Can I use it for variegated plants?
Yes you can. You should use 13-11-11 instead of 18-6-8 for variegated plants because 18-6-8 will cause the plants to lose their variegation as 18-6-8 is rich in nitrogen and will cause the plant to produce more chlorophyll and lose its variegation.
